Starter gives up four in first inning of loss to Red Sox
|
BOSTON: The Indians do not employ a team exorcist, but maybe they can rent one. It was obvious after only a few batters Wednesday night that the demons of Fenway Park had not been expelled from Fausto Carmona's consciousness. Carmona pitched one inning and gave up four runs, five hits and one walk, delivering 51 pitches, most of them in vain.

Left-hander shelved with elbow injury but will get chance next year
|
CLEVELAND: The season is over for Aaron Laffey because of mild inflammation of his left elbow. Why is Laffey's elbow inflamed? Apparently, the irritation was caused by pitching, though nobody can say for sure. Between starting for the Indians and Buffalo Bisons, Laffey racked up 1551/3 innings. He hasn't been overworked, but stuff happens.
