After seven frames the High Plains Storm and the Boone Central Cardinals were tied at 2-2.
In the first extra frame the Storm picked up two runs in the top of the eighth and held the Cardinals to just one run to post the 4-3 win Thursday night.
In the eighth with Ashley Fleming (the last batter of the seventh frame) starting at second base, Jamee Scherer singled and later scored what would be the winning run on Britny Kava’s single to put the High Plains girls up by two runs.
Boone Central led 1-0 in the bottom of the second, but High Plains tied the game in the fifth when Haley Strobel tripled and scored on Whitney Engel’s single.
In the top of the sixth the Storm took a 2-1 lead when Becky Kobza singled and scored on singles from Scherer and Kava.
Boone Central drew even in the bottom sixth sending the game to extra frames
Picking up the win was Sierra Dittmer allowing 10 hits and three runs, all earned. She struckout one and walked three.
The Storm (4-15) were led at the dish by Kobza, Scherer and Kava all with two hits each.
