No team points were kept on Friday as Beatrice hosted Nebraska City, Lincoln Christian and York in tennis action.
The Dukes only first place team was Bret Gardner and Joe Ritzdorf in No. 1 doubles where they posted a 2-1 record. There was actually a three way tie for first place, and the Dukes won the tie breaker.
“They are playing better each match and played some great tennis today,” commented York head coach Josh Budler. “We have a big tournament today at Pius X Invite, which is like a mimi state tournament with over half of Class B there.”
Gardner’s and Ritzdorf’s results included; def. Beatrice 6-2, 6-4, def. Nebraska City 6-2, 6-1, and lost to Lincoln Christian 6-4, 2-6 and 7-6 (7-4).
Other results for the Dukes included; No. 1 singles, Matt McEuen (0-3), No. 2 singles Matt McClure (1-2) and No. 2 doubles Wyatt Suddarth and Matt Heng (1-2).
