York, NE —
After escaping a first inning bases loaded no out jam, York Seniors pitcher Jacob Wiehn made very quick work of the Lincoln Lutheran Amigo hitters the rest of the way.
Allowing only two hits and striking out seven in a five inning game, the York Seniors improved to 7-3 with an 8-0 win at Levitt Stadium Thursday night.
“We jumped on them early, but we need to do a better job of putting teams away,” commented York head coach Erik Gray. “Jacob Wiehn was just lights out. He did a great job of just shutting them down.”
Lincoln Lutheran starter Kyle Ziegler was not as fortunate as the Wiehn as the York Seniors put a seven spot on the board against him in the top of the first. Jake Staehr was 2-3 at the plate with a double and one RBI in the game, while Evan Keelan-White was 2-2 with three runs knocked in. Others picking up hits were Aman Singh and Kelan Walford.
The Seniors were back in action last night as they hosted the S.O.S. Seniors at Levitt Stadium. The Stromsburg-Osceola-Shelby co-op took a 6-5 win over the York Seniors at Buckley Park in Stromsburg on May 31.
